SGMRO: Reconstructed

Welcome to SGMRO: Reconstructed. This project is an attempt to preserve the information and resources compiled on the NIH's The Sexual & Gender Minority Research Office (SGMRO) website, which was taken down on January 22, 2025.

  • What was the SGMRO?

The SGMRO coordinated sexual and gender minority (SGM)-related research and activities by working directly with the NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices. The Office was officially established in September 2015 within the NIH Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI).

  • Is this website a 1:1 recreation?

Not quite! In addition to not having access to the NIH IP, there are some things that were on the SGMRO website at the time of its take-down that wouldn't make sense to carry over -- for example, researcher spotlights that would have refreshed every few months. However, by the time it's complete, we hope to have preserved as much of use as we can!

Notably, beyond this introduction, all content originates from the SGMRO website, preserved and reconstructed through various means. Beyond website layout changes, content has not been changed in any way. Currently, all content has been retrieved except for pages under the events tab; these reconstructions are in progress.
